A Good Start...

A good start, as they say is half the battle.

A good start to any day is within the reach of anybody. That is when our ability to create what we want in that day is at its most powerful.

Sometimes we wake up and find ourselves in a good mood. Sometimes we wake up and we wish we could go back to sleep again.

But we can use that moment, that moment of instantaneous waking, shape our day.

What thoughts, attitude, and vision we place in our minds at that moment of waking, will influence the direction we take for the rest of that particular day.

When you awaken to aimlessness, apprehension, uncertainty, you place in your mind an open door to any doubt, anxiety, or problem that presents itself to you.

But a mind already primed in a certain direction, with a plan of action that can be implemented, will deal with doubts and fears as they arise.

It will be made of a different kind. It will be guided in the direction of a solution. And while being fully aware of the importance of challenges, it will not be daunted or overwhelmed by them.

If we are agreed that preparation is the key to performance, then we can agree that the performance of a day is dependent on the preparation of the night before.

This is simplicity its self.

To instruct yourself to look forward to the morning, is a simple, easy even, and effective strategy. This is not some Pollyanna notion of pretending that everything is wonderful when it isn’t.

It’s a simple strategy to place our minds in the position where they can function rationally, clearly, and with purpose.

A clear mind, driven by purpose, confronts and deals with any situation.

It becomes more creative, more constructive, and infinitely productive.

For some to whom I have mentioned this, it seemed too good to be true. And unlesss you put it into practice, you will never, never, experience the value of it.

More than most, this is one exercise that needs to be done in order to be learned. Those who have done it, even those with scepticism, have been very pleasantly surprised.

Those who have not done it, have not been surprised, and if they never do get round to doing it, have deprived themselves of the opportunity of a pleasant and very practical discovery.

For one week, do it. Every day.
