A few people have responded to the piece on resilience (see below), and asked whether 'belief' is really that significant; here's my own take on it...
Belief started businesses. Sustained belief sustained businesses, and it started and sustained life's intentions. Belief broke four-minute-miles, founded the United States of America, founded the Irish Free State, won sporting championships, put planes into the sky, crossed oceans in 18 foot rowing boats, pushed deprived and disadvantaged people to heights of achievement and eminence, changed lives when the lives needed changing, dragged you and me through overwhelming obstacles when we needed it, kept us looking for a glimmer when there was no light in the tunnel...belief is the essence of the human spirit... Belief changes lives for the better, and sometimes, because of the direction of belief, for the worse. Believe underpins every thought and notion and idea and aspiration that we have. Henry Ford put it very well when you said “whether you believe You can, or you can’t, you’re right.” Look at that last email. Get your pen, your paper, you place of solitude, and talk with yourself. If you want to go a bit farther with this, tomorrow's workshop is the last this summer 'till September, so you can look in HERE for details and get yourself nicely primed for the next few weeks, and of course we'll have a brief follow-up next week at no extra cost for everyone attending tomorrow... And have an believably wonderful weekend...
