Good morning. Over the past few months great and necessary emphasis has been placed on non-contacting, physical distancing, and wearing masks. Let’s hope everybody keeps attending to these measures. The foregoing precautions are applied to help safeguard the environment of ourselves and others. However, there is something else we can all do to help minimise the spread of C-19. I saw recently a program on television that compared the effects of exhalation, sneezing and coughing, to that of using an aero-spray can to disperse droplets into the atmosphere. These effects can be very much reduced by simply breathing through the nose. For the individual, breathing in through the nose warms, humidifies and cleanses the air on its way to the lungs. This makes the air more useful to the body and the oxygen more readily assimilated into the bloodstream. Breathing out through the nose reduces and slows the breath, and regulates the amount of waste, toxins, and infections that may be finding their way from the body through the breathing apparatus. While still cleansing and disinfecting the system, this manner of breathing lessens the pollution in the immediate area of the person exhaling. Back in the late 60s and early 70s, I attended courses run by a ex-professional wrestler. He wasn't teaching us how to do back-drops, throat-punches or pile-drivers. He was preparing us for the endurance we would need for the endurance of working a Gym' in those days, where you had a five-day week, at twelve hours a day, minimum. His insistence on nose breathing for health, fitness, rapid recovery, and resilience in the face of long hours in concentrated work, and was emphatic. Today this tendency in training has re-emerged as one of the keys to successful performance among elite athletes and hard driving business people. It’s a simple thing to do, but can be difficult to practice. However with practice, repetition and persistence, this can become one of your most healthy habits. This is just the final reminder that there'll be a workshop tomorrow morning, Saturday, the 6th of June, which will be devoted to proven and practical methods to establish, improve, and maintain sound health, for a longer and a happier life. If you want to dive in before the close of application, which will be at 5 pm this evening, you’ll be very welcome to click HERE.
