Broken Promises...

"Promises. Promises. Promises.“

From politicians, to friends, to acquaintances, to people we’ve never met, we have probably made as many promises, and broken as many , with  the best will in the world.

However, we are probably our own greatest victims when it comes to the promises we make to ourselves.

Here we are, early March, and we’ve probably already ditched a couple of Promised changes of direction we had made to ourselves in January.

If that isn’t the case and you got everything together and you’re steaming along, just ignore me.

However, if like myself and millions of others, your journey has become a bit diversified, if not all together off route, stay here.

And get back on track. For that is the substance of your promise to yourself. You make it, you break it, you make it again, you break it again, you renew it, and you keep on renewing it till it works.

That’s where persistence comes in; not in doing it perfectly every day, but in doing it, failing at it, doing it again, failing again, and as you keep on falling off,  you keep on climbing back.

That’s where the power and the spirit of the promise you made to yourself will stand you in very good stead.

It’s a simple way, it’s The infallible way.
And like all simple ways, it isn’t easy, which is why we tend to look for other “magic“, “ground breaking“, “break through” ways to do it.

Keep it simple.

Accept  the simple straightforward result-producing way, and the fact that you may not always want to do it, but that you will find the results far outweigh the bit of effort in terms of satisfaction, self respect, and personal growth.

Your sense of self sufficiency will soar, and your life, and your perception of it, may well take on a whole new meaning and direction.

So, go ahead. Make your promise.

Start it. Take the action. Action speaks what the most eloquent of words will never inspire.

There is magic, and power, and momentum, in action.

So, make your promise. Take the action. Do it.

You may have promised yourself a new way of life at sometime.

keep it.
