How To Stop Not Starting...

22/3/2021

Having the wit to see what we’re  doing to ourselves is half the battle when we’re  stalling.

See that you’re doing it.
Set a goal.
Start.

Often when we’re switched off, relaxed, at ease,  we get the best ideas, ways to do things, and solutions to problems.

Then we need to act on them. And there’s  the problem, isn’t  it?

 Doing it.

One of the main causes preventing us from starting anything is the amount we think we’re going to have to do.
We can get overwhelmed.

We instantly forget that everything, everything, gets done in steps. That’s one of the reasons why the word “journey” is so appropriate to any undertaking.

Our journey begins with the first step.

That’s  a major discovery, or re-discovery, for many of us. Now we see that it isn’t circumstances, the economy, timing, or anything else that’s holding us up.

It’s ourselves. And that’s the first part of the solution, Accepting responsibility.

The second thing to do is then take a decision to set a goal. The choice is ours to take a decision to get started. That’s all we want to do at this stage; start.

Once we get started We are on the way. Let that be the goal. To start. To begin. To do something.

Whatever we do, we will have put an action in mind. There is our first goal.

Then take action. Start. Start doing whatever it is that needs to be done, Not what we want to do, but what needs to be done.
However difficult, unpalatable, distasteful, uncomfortable, frightening, we need to get started.
It may work.
It may not. So what? The world keeps spinning. Tomorrow is another day.

And what if it works? What if, once we start, we find that we can do it, and not just do it, but do it well?

Our imagined difficulties tend to be worse than the reality. Not always mind you, but frequently.

So when we start, and find that not only can we do it, but do it well, we become aware of all kinds of possibilities.

So, put these three esses into your life;

See that you’re hesitating
Set your goal
Start.
