We need to be aware of all the forms of self protection available to us in any area of life. The steps we take maybe big, or small, but the accumulation of them all will result in one accumulated major force. At any time of life, breathing patterns exert an influence on the quality of life. In the current situation how we breathe is even more important. Much is being made of the wearing of masks, not because it protects us from inhaling dangerous particles, but because it diminishes the harmful exhalations that we can deliver. Another simple and effective remedy for this is learning to breathe through the nose. And this is a great way to improve the value of a mask. By closing our mouths and allowing our noses to do what they were designed to do, we eliminate most of the harmful exhalations from our immediate environment. Breathing in through the nose filters, humidifies and the warms the air before it reaches our lungs. This will lessen the potentially harmful particles that we inhale. As the Corona virus attacks the lungs in particular, this is something everyone should be trying seriously to practice. By making sure that we breathe out through the nose as well, we lessen the potentially harmful effect of our exhalations. Nose breathing during the course of the day also lessens the number of times we breathe. This has a deep effect on the nervous system that in turn influences the relaxation response. Slower, more relaxed breathing patterns contribute to easier, more fluent living. Our minds become more quiet, the nervous system is soothed, and our emotions or calmed. A quiet mind and emotional stability tend to promote clearer thinking. This is what helps us get more from our abilities and talents, and is a priceless ability to cultivate for creative and productive living. For more on how this can be achieved, click HERE. In the meantime you can start developing the priceless habit of nose breathing by consciously practising to breathe with your two lips firmly together. Let your tongue rest behind your teeth. Be aware of the tongue resting, the lips together, and the breathing through the nose being smooth, steady, and even. This is one of the entry exercises to being Mindfully Aware. Breathing is central to all mindfulness. Over the past 50 years it has been my pleasure and privilege to have shown many people how to use these simple techniques to improve their health, and their ability to concentrate, and in general to get a lot more from their lives with a lot less effort. With attention to posture, and breathing patterns alone, we can change the internal environment of our bodies and exert transformational changes in how our bodies work for us. There is nothing deep or mysterious about this. People have been doing it for centuries, even millennia. Click the link below and you can find out how to bring it into your own life. With your attention, and my guidance, you can avail yourself of a healthy, active, long and happy life. Click HERE.
