The Power Of a Word...

Last week, there were a couple of emails suggesting that you think about who you are, where you are, what you've got, and what you think might have got you there.

Quite a few people responded with interest, expressing that it was a fresh take on facts.

Two people wrote in and said they'd never heard of such rubbish, one of them finishing  his association with the emails. That's fine.

The interesting thing was this; of the people who expressed interest, all of them, every one of them, was accomplished, and mainly successful in what they had undertaken in life. The degrees of success varied, but every one of these people got the point. They accepted their responsibility, largely, for what they achieved, or didn't.

And that was the point of the mails; we can exercise much greater influence in our own lives than that for which we take credit.

Awareness of this is key to our performance in any area. It isn't academic knowledge alone that's going to help shape our lives. It's what we do with it.

That's why procedures, policies, methods and techniques, while necessary to performance, are not the total answer. Indeed we have to ask if there is such a thing. There probably isn't, but what ever answers do exist are more readily available to an open mind..

Mind and body are inextricably linked in every thought, move and decision we take during the day. And if we're in agreement that life is a series of decisions, we can then set about influencing those decisions as we see fit.

That's what being Mindfully Aware is about; thinking during the performance of everyday events how we can make the most of who, where, and what we are.
Every thing we experience in life is the effect of something that caused it.

Though we may be a bit reluctant to admit it, we have a lot more to do with the causes in our lives than we think. Sure, there are recessions, pandemics, bank failures, economic collapses, and any amount of reasons for us to fail, go out of business, go bankrupt, and sometimes through no fault of ours it happens,  but...............even disasters like that we can weather; depending on the state of mind we decide to retain.

And you're right, it doesn't make it easier, but it does help bear the burden...

But going back to the consideration of where we are at this moment; that's the kind of thinking that keeps the mind open to whatever may be possible. It brings all kinds of possibilities to mind, some practical, some not.

But a mind that's focused on solutions, however remote, will see things that otherwise could pass under your very nose and not get spotted.

I'll explain how this happens in the next post..
