Three Ways You Can Benefit Your life, and Your Business...

He had a surly look in his eye. I wasn’t surprised. He had phoned me earlier, telling me how his business had taken a nosedive.
But what really got to him was that he could have done something about it. He had been negligent.

Things were going very well and steadily. He told me he had got too comfortable and he had found it difficult to apply himself.

In spite of of his travails, he had kept his personal training and exercise regime in place. He now considered it to be a saving grace in his difficulty. The first thing it did was to maintain a good state of mind.

The second thing it did was remind him of some really great qualities he had discovered about himself as he had established and developed his health program.

Previously, he had never considered himself to be a good communicator. That changed as he began to get fitter, faster, and stronger in his training practice. He considered how he had communicated to himself the benefits and necessity of being fit in the modern world. He saw others who had kept themselves in shape and saw how the benefits transferred into every area of their lives. He had taken this to heart and put the same sense of purpose and energy into his own life.

He also gave himself the credit for having developed a sense of resilience and determination in achieving his fitness results. He was not a very athletic person but had motivated himself to start and then applied himself to keep up what he had started. He felt he had developed a sense of physical and mental endurance. And he was right.

The third quality that he recognised he had developed over time was that of improved concentration. In order to achieve physically what he had done, he had had to apply himself mentally to his task, and as he did this, he found that it had come to his aid in day-to -day business affairs as well.

We had a short conversation about the significance of his training habits and how they might be applied to his life and his business.

He had, because of his attention to his simple training regime, developed a habit of thinking which bore such an influence on his life, that he had made the most of abilities he never thought he had. He accepted this. As with most people who achieve something which challenges the status quo, he had had to overcome former habits, conditioning, that could have undone him

He had, in other words, become who he needed to be to get where he wanted to go. This opened a gate to new pathways, brought onto the horizon new destinations, acknowledged the courage for fresh decisions, based on what he had uncovered about himself.

When you do one thing, you can do another.

He has gone back to his business with a sense of purpose, determination, and practical optimism.

That’s the value of keeping your mind, your body, and your spirit in tune.
